CECC confirms 3 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the Philippines and Indonesia


On May 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Case #1130 and Case #1132) and Indonesia (Case #1131).

Case #1130 is an over 40-year-old male from the Philippines. The Filipino man traveled to Taiwan to work as a fisherman on April 16. He was tested for COVID-19 on April 29, before completing the quarantine period; infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 1.

Case #1131 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s. He visited Indonesia for official business in December 2020, and returned to Taiwan on March 28, 2021. As he planned to travel abroad again, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on April 30. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 1 (the CT value was 36; he tested negative after given another RT-PCR test while hospitalized, and he also tested negative for antibodies).

Case #1132 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s. He visited the Philippines for work in March. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country on March 20. He later tested negative twice on April 11 and April 12, respectively. He returned to Taiwan on April 15. He visited the hospital to take a self-paid test after completing the quarantine period on April 30. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 1.
