CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; all three cases arrive in Taiwan from Indonesia

On January 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The three new cases (Cases #853-855) arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia.

Case #853 and Case #854 are two Indonesian men in their 20s. The two Indonesian men traveled to Taiwan to work as fishermen on January 3. They haven't experienced any symptoms since arrival. The two fishermen were given COVID-19 tests on January 16, before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on January 17.

Case #855 is also an Indonesian fisherman in his 20s. He traveled to Taiwan on December 31, 2020. After completing the quarantine period, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on January 15, 2021. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 17.
