CECC confirms 22,959 more COVID-19 cases, including 22,707 domestic cases and 252 imported cases

On August 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 22,959 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 22,959 new cases, 22,707 are domestic and 252 are imported. The CECC announced 56 deaths today.

Regarding the 22,707 new domestic cases, 10,469 are male and 12,188 are female, while the gender of the other 50 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,326 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,807 in Taichung City, 2,388 in Taipei City, 2,352 in Taoyuan City, 2,214 in Kaohsiung City, 1,744 in Tainan City, 1,094 in Changhua County, 713 in Hsinchu County, 598 in Pingtung County, 696 in Miaoli County, 584 in Yunlin County, 570 in Hsinchu City, 427 in Yilan County, 420 in Hualien County, 409 in Nantou County, 387 in Chiayi County, 345 in Keelung City, 265 in Chiayi City, 264 in Taitung County, 143 in Kinmen County, 119 in Penghu County, and eight in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 56 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 32 men and 24 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 252 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between June 29 and August 3, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,005,123 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,321,763. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,675,128 cases. Of the 4,675,128 confirmed cases, 20,980 are imported; 4,654,094 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,082 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,082 deaths, 9,067 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
