On October 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that Taiwan recently received notifications from the Japanese authorities through the International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Point that three travelers had tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after they had taken antigen tests when entering Japan from Taiwan.

The CECC reported that those three travelers left Taiwan on October 6, October 7, and October 10. They all showed no symptoms during their stay in Taiwan and haven't developed any symptoms since departure. One of the three travelers was given RT-PCR tests on October 12 and October 13, and the test results came back negative. The traveler has been released from isolation. Of the remaining two travelers, one took a COVID-19 test on October 13 and tested negative. Health authorities have identified a total of 44 individuals who had come into contact with those three travelers in Taiwan. Of the 44 contacts, 16 are subjected to COVID-19 testing. 15 of the 16 contacts tested negative after undergoing RT-PCR and antibody tests, and one will be tested today.
