CECC confirms 23,556 more COVID-19 cases, including 23,302 domestic cases and 254 imported cases

On August 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 23,556 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 23,556 new cases, 23,302 are domestic and 254 are imported. The CECC announced 31 deaths today.

Regarding the 23,302 new domestic cases, 10,836 are male and 12,453 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,920 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,923 in Taichung City, 2,400 in Kaohsiung City, 2,295 in Taipei City, 2,050 in Tainan City, 2,027 in Taoyuan City, 1,192 in Changhua County, 771 in Pingtung County, 735 in Yunlin County, 705 in Miaoli County, 646 in Hsinchu County, 497 in Hsinchu City, 475 in Yilan County, 460 in Chiayi County, 423 in Nantou County, 421 in Hualien County, 338 in Keelung City, 333 in Chiayi City, 310 in Taitung County, 209 in Kinmen County, 153 in Penghu County, and 19 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 31 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 19 men and 12 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 254 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 2 and August 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,912,557 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,277,937. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,628,294 cases. Of the 4,628,294 confirmed cases, 20,535 are imported; 4,607,705 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 8,994 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 8,994 deaths, 8,979 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
