On August 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that Taiwan received a notification from Japan International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Point that an asymptomatic man was confirmed to have coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after he had returned to Japan from Taiwan. The case is a Japanese male in his 30s. The Japanese man visited Taiwan on June 15 and returned to Japan on August 1. He was tested for COVID-19 and tested positive when entering Japan.

The Japanese man had no symptoms during his stay in Taiwan, and he hasn’t developed any symptoms since he returned to Japan. After the CECC obtained information regarding the case, the health authority has launched an investigation into the case, identified individuals who came into contact with him in Taiwan, and cleaned and disinfected the places the case frequented.
