CECC confirms 81,907 more COVID-19 cases, including 81,852 domestic cases and 55 imported cases

On May 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 81,907 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 81,907 new cases, 81,852 are domestic and 55 are imported (26 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 104 deaths today.

Regarding the 81,852 new domestic cases, 39,020 are male and 42,799 are female, while the gender of the other 33 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 17,632 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,944 in Taichung City, 9,484 in Taoyuan City, 9,062 in Taipei City, 8,566 in Kaohsiung City, 5,871 in Tainan City, 3,281 in Changhua County, 2,623 in Pingtung County, 2,282 in Hsinchu County, 2,041 in Yilan County, 1,700 in Miaoli County, 1,690 in Keelung City, 1,679 in Hsinchu City, 1,291 in Hualien County, 1,105 in Yunlin County, 1,004 in Nantou County, 920 in Chiayi County, 749 in Taitung County, 522 in Chiayi City, 206 in Penghu County, 182 in Kinmen County, and 18 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 104 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 56 men and 48 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 55 new imported cases, they were 30 men and 25 women ranging in age from 10 to 79 years. Of the cases, two arrived from the US, and the areas the remaining 53 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 24 and 25, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 10,677,190 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,039,299. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1,640,271 cases. Of the 1,640,271 confirmed cases, 12,723 are imported; 1,627,494 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1,658 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1,658 deaths, 1,643 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
