On August 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The case (Case #477) is an over 60-year-old male who worked in South Africa for several years (the last time he departed from Taiwan was in November of 2016). The male case took the same flight to Taiwan as Case #460 and #461 and entered Taiwan on July 25.

Case #477 was asymptomatic when entering Taiwan. He underwent quarantine at a quarantine hotel after entry into the country. The case developed diarrhea, muscle pains, and fatigue on August 3. The health authority then arranged his medical care and COVID-19 testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 6.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 82,737 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 81,625. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 477 cases. Of 477 confirmed cases in Taiwan, 385 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship, and 1 case has yet to be determined.
