On October 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced eight new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the eight new cases, two are domestic and the other six are imported. The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the two new domestic cases, Case #16485 is an over 20-year-old male. He was tested for COVID-19 as he needed to accompany a patient on October 24. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 25 (the CT value was 33; he tested negative for IgM and positive for IgG antibodies).

Case #16486 is an over 40-year-old male. He was tested for COVID-19 for other reasons on October 23. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 25 (the CT value was 37; he tested negative for IgM and positive for IgG antibodies).

Regarding the six new imported cases, they are two men and four women, aged between 10 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US, the UK and Indonesia (four cases). They arrived between October 10 and October 22.

The CECC pointed out that the one death (Case #12235) announced today was an over 80-year-old male with chronic disease and history of contact with confirmed cases.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,862,914 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,845,556. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,376 cases. Of the 16,376 confirmed cases, 1,733 are imported; 14,589 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 847 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 847 deaths, 835 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
