"A massive COVID-19 outbreak among Vietnamese in Taipei City" is false internet rumor! Spreading fake news is a legal offense

Recently, a false rumor of "a massive COVID-19 outbreak among Vietnamese in Taipei City?" in Vietnamese has been circulating on the Internet, claiming that Taiwan is imposing an emergency lockdown after 250 Vietnamese people in Taiwan were infected with COVID-19. The Central Epidemic Command (CECC) points out that it is fake news, and urges the public not to spread the rumor.

The CECC reiterates that information on the epidemic or prevention and control measures shall only be released to the public by the CECC. Members of the public should not spread, forward or repost any epidemic-related information from an unknown source unless verified, or it will be a violation of Article 14 of the Special Act for Prevention, Relief and Revitalization Measures for Severe Pneumonia with Novel Pathogens, or Subparagraph 5, Paragraph 1, Article 63 of the "Social Order Maintenance Act ".
