To ensure smooth logistical arrangements of medical resources and personal protective equipment, accompanied by Secretary General of the Executive Yuan Xiang-Chuan Xue, Minister of State of the Executive Yuan Jin-Fu Chang, Deputy Minister of Health Shou-Hsia Cheng, Director-General of Department of Posts and Telecommunications Tien-Lai Teng, Premier of the Executive Yuan Liu visited the Chunghwa Post warehouse in Neihu for storing the medical resources and personal protective equipment stockpiled by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) on May 1, 2009.

Learning the lessons from SARS, Taiwan CDC has created an efficient storage mechanism that ensures rapid delivery of medical resources and personal protective equipment to frontline medical, healthcare, infection control, and quarantine personnel to avoid unnecessary panic among these frontline workers.

The rationale for storing medical resources and personal protective equipment at the Chunghwa Post warehouse includes that the conditions of the warehouse are ideal for storing medical resources and personal protective equipment, and the warehouse is equipped with surveillance camera and logistics management and information system. Further, Chunhwa Post has warehouses in the northern, central and southern parts of Taiwan, and their own fleet of logistics truck that allow storage in multiple locations and fast delivery.

After the SARS outbreak in 2003, Taiwan CDC became responsible for storing face masks and other personal protective equipment.Besides establishing level 3 safe storage at the central, local, and hospital level, Taiwan CDC has cooperated with non-governmental logistics and warehouse providers to store an ample supply of facemasks and other personal protective equipment.On January 25, 2008, the stockpile of medical resources and personal protective equipment was moved from the original single warehouse to multiple warehouses located in Neihu, Taichung, Tainnan, and Kaohsiung to ensure further efficiency in delivery.
