CECC confirms 14 more imported COVID-19 cases

On December 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 14 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 14 new imported cases, they are six men and eight women, aged between 10 to 79 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (ten cases), Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. They arrived between December 14 and December 27.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,917,481 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,898,907. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,964 cases. Of the 16,964 confirmed cases, 2,310 are imported; 14,600 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
