CECC confirms 27,955 more COVID-19 cases, including 27,803 domestic cases and 152 imported cases

On December 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 27,955 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 27,955 new cases, 27,803 are domestic and 152 are imported. The CECC announced 36 deaths today.

Regarding the 27,803 new domestic cases, 12,364 are male and 15,423 are female, while the gender of the other 16 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,665 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,602 in Taichung City, 3,195 in Taipei City, 3,144 in Taoyuan City, 2,747 in Kaohsiung City, 2,232 in Tainan City, 1,211 in Changhua County, 984 in Hsinchu County, 947 in Hsinchu City, 699 in Miaoli County, 539 in Yunlin County, 437 in Pingtung County, 435 in Nantou County, 418 in Keelung City, 377 in Chiayi County, 361 in Yilan County, 279 in Chiayi City, 215 in Hualien County, 131 in Kinmen County, 127 in Taitung County, 47 in Penghu County, and 11 in Lienchiang County

Regarding the 36 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 23 men and 13 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 152 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 28 and December 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,714,605 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,919,456. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,794,212 cases. Of the 8,794,212 confirmed cases, 39,944 are imported; 8,754,214 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,181 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,181 deaths, 15,164 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
