On December 29, 2009, the 39th meeting held by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) was convened by the commander-in-chief of CECC, the Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan, Li-Luan Chu.At the meeting, Vice Premier Chu instructed relevant agencies to complete the investigation of recent pandemic H1N1 vaccine adverse events as soon as possible and explain the outcome of the investigation to the public once it becomes available.In addition, Vice Premier Chu also instructed the Department of Health to further reinforce public communication and health promotion concerning the pandemic H1N1 vaccine and ensure all relevant information is made transparent.
At 3pm on December 29, 2009, the Premier of the Executive Yuan, Den-Yih Wu visited CECC.Premier Wu expressed his concerns about the recent situation where the public is hesitant to get the H1N1 vaccine in light of adverse events.To ensure national health, Premier Wu instructed CECC to continue with the promotion of the pandemic H1N1 vaccination campaign and made the following three orders: 1. Raise the maximum compensation for vaccine-related death to NT$6 million, 2, Establish “H1N1 Vaccine Safety Risk Assessment Working Group” and invite representatives from medical associations, Fellows of Academia Sinica, consumer representatives, legal professionals, and representatives from the Health, Environment and Social Welfare Committee of the Legislative Yuan to participate in the Group, 3.Request the Government Information Office and the Department of Health to continue the expropriation of television channels in order to reinforce health communication and promotion concerning the pandemic H1N1 vaccine.
