On March 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced an average of 12,032 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan last week (2/24-3/2). Of the 12,032 new cases, 11,842 are domestic and 190 are imported; additionally, the average number of new deaths per day last week was 43. This is a declining trend in comparison to the previous week.

Regarding the 12,032 new domestic cases, 2,306 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,345 in Taoyuan City, 1,510 in Kaohsiung City, 1,419 in Taichung City, 1,026 in Tainan City, 997 in Taipei City, 547 in Changhua County, 347 in Hsinchu County, 316 in Pingtung County, 260 in Yunlin County, 257 in Hsinchu City, 258 in Miaoli County, 199 in Keelung City, 284 in Yilan County, 185 in Nantou County, 156 in Hualien County, 173 in Chiayi County, 123 in Chiayi City, 71 in Taitung County, 29 in Kinmen County, 29 in Penghu County, and four in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the COVID-19 deaths last week, 94% had a history of chronic disease, 63% had not received all three doses of vaccine, and 93% were over 60 years of age. As of 2020, there have been a cumulative total of 10,069,539 confirmed cases and 18,010 COVID-19 deaths in Taiwan.
