CECC confirms 68,965 more COVID-19 cases, including 68,939 domestic cases and 26 imported cases

On June 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 68,965 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 68,965 new cases, 68,939 are domestic and 26 are imported. The CECC announced 143 deaths today.

Regarding the 68,939 new domestic cases, 33,178 are male and 35,736 are female, while the gender of the other 25 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 10,756 were reported in Taichung City, 10,001 in Kaohsiung City, 8,348 in New Taipei City, 6,987 in Tainan City, 5,845 in Taoyuan City, 5,541 in Changhua County, 4,387 in Taipei City, 3,150 in Pingtung County, 1,716 in Yunlin County, 1,676 in Miaoli County, 1,552 in Hsinchu County, 1,486 in Nantou County, 1,283 in Chiayi County, 1,227 in Hsinchu City, 1,221 in Yilan County, 901 in Hualien County, 837 in Keelung City, 789 in Taitung County, 783 in Chiayi City, 279 in Penghu County, 141 in Kinmen County, and 33 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 143 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 82 men and 61 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 26 new imported cases, they were 15 men and 11 women ranging in age from under 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, three arrived from the US, and one each from the Philippines and Vietnam. The areas the remaining 21 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between June 4 and 14, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 12,467,209 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,392,379. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 3,072,432 cases. Of the 3,072,432 confirmed cases, 13,560 are imported; 3,058,818 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 4,546 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 4,546 deaths, 4,531 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
