CECC confirms 22,819 more COVID-19 cases, including 22,559 domestic cases and 260 imported cases

On August 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 22,819 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 22,819 new cases, 22,559 are domestic and 260 are imported. The CECC announced 32 deaths today.

Regarding the 22,559 new domestic cases, 10,264 are male and 12,287 are female, while the gender of the other eight cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,739 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,757 in Taipei City, 2,710 in Taichung City, 2,632 in Taoyuan City, 1,762 in Kaohsiung City, 1,392 in Tainan City, 938 in Changhua County, 700 in Hsinchu County, 610 in Hsinchu City, 601 in Miaoli County, 567 in Yilan County, 565 in Pingtung County, 517 in Yunlin County, 390 in Hualien County, 357 in Keelung City, 317 in Nantou County, 315 in Chiayi County, 217 in Taitung County, 193 in Chiayi City, 140 in Kinmen County, 128 in Penghu County, and 12 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 32 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 13 men and 19 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 260 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 20 and August 18, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,630,461 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,624,007. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,998,765 cases. Of the 4,998,765 confirmed cases, 24,577 are imported; 4,974,134 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,572 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,572 deaths, 9,556 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
