CECC confirms 1 more imported COVID-19 case; Indonesian student found to have COVID-19 after taking self-paid test

On October 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case is an Indonesian student in his 10s (Case #544). He entered Taiwan with five other students from Indonesia on October 5.

The CECC reported that the case showed no suspected symptoms upon arrival. The case visited a hospital to take a COVID-19 test at his own expense on October 20 after completing the home quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 21. The case is currently hospitalized in isolation. The five Indonesian students who traveled with the case all tested negative.
