On December 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the seven new imported cases, they are six men and one woman, aged between 20 to 49 years old. Six of them arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (three cases), Australia, Indonesia, or the US, while where the other one traveled from is being investigated. They arrived between November 30 and December 5.

The CECC pointed out that the one death (Case #10511) announced today was an over 50-year-old Taiwanese male with chronic disease and history of contact with confirmed cases. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 on June 5 and passed away on November 19.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,690,800 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,672,174. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,759 cases. Of the 16,759 confirmed cases, 2,114 are imported; 14,591 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 849 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 849 deaths, 837 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
