As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread across the globe, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) constantly employs technology to assist in implementing disease prevention efforts. The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) recently established a bilingual chatbot on Google Assistant to serve as another channel for the public to obtain latest information regarding disease prevention. If members of the public have any question regarding COVID-19, they can open up the Google Assistant app on a device which supports Google Assistant to interact with the chatbot for information regarding COVID-19 prevention.

The CECC explains that the chatbot on Google Assistant can provide various kinds of information, such as introductory information on COVID-19, method of transmission, symptoms, epidemic status within other countries/regions and face mask stocking information in each pharmacy. Members of the public can use the service as long as they have an Android or iOS (running iOS 12 or later) device which supports Google Assistant, including smart speakers, cell phones and tablets.
