On the evening of January 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 9 new confirmed cases (case numbers to be assigned with their Ct values between 18.2-26.5) of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the nine cases, two are male and the other seven are female, aged between 20 and 59 years old. They all are clerks at a bank in Taoyuan City's Zhongli District and were tested for COVID-19 under an expanded testing program for the contacts of a confirmed case identified today (employees at the same workplace as Case #17630).

The CECC explained that the Department of Public Health of Taoyuan City Government has set up community testing sites in Zhongzheng Park in Zhongli District and other locations. Members of the public who had visited Chienshin Branch of Union Bank of Taiwan in Zhongli District for personal business and come into contact with a clerk or visited any of the neighboring areas where the confirmed cases had been between January 4-12 must practice self-monitoring. If symptoms such as fever, upper respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, and abnormal sense of smell/taste develop before January 26, members of the public must put on a medical mask and visit a community testing site or designated testing station to undergo testing and assessment.
