Nationwide H1N1 vaccination campaign on December 12, 2009 proceeds smoothly

According to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), a total of 2,584 contracted hospitals and 354 temporary vaccination stations provided pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccination on December 12, 2009. The top five cities and counties that met the goal of the vaccination campaign with the most number of people vaccinated include Lianjiang County (352.3%), Jiayi City (251.3%), Jiayi County (183.3%), Tainan County (158.4%), and Taitung County (154.3%).A total of 15 cities and counties have met the goal of the vaccination campaign.

As of 10am on December 15, 2009, a total of 4,126,007 people in Taiwan were vaccinated against H1N1, constituting 17.9% of the entire population. About 10 cities and counties met the goal of vaccinating 20% of the local population, including Lianjiang County, Jiayi City, Taichung City, Taoyuan County, Hualien County, Taichung County, Changhua County, Yilan County, Taitung County, and Miaoli County.In addition, 80.5% of the health care personnel in Taiwan have been vaccinated against H1N1.

On the other hand, on-campus vaccination campaigns have been completed in 11 cities and counties, including Lianjiang County, Yilan County, Jiayi County, Taitung County, Hualien County, Taoyuan County, Changhua County, Penghu County, Taichung City, Hsinchu City, and Yulin County.On-campus vaccinations campaigns are expected to be completed in the rest of the cities and counties in the nation by the end of this year.

Currently, a total of 289 classes have been suspended due to pandemic influenza A (H1N1).Most of these classes are in high schools and junior colleges, proving that on-campus vaccination campaigns held at elementary and middle schools effective.CECC urged high schools and junior colleges to complete their on-campus vaccination campaigns as soon as possible.
