CECC confirms 359 more COVID-19 cases, including 281 domestic cases and 78 imported cases

On April 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 359 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 359 new cases, 281 are domestic and 78 are imported (27 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 281 new domestic cases, they are 148 men and 133 women ranging in age from under five to 89 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 3 and April 5, while 125 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 115 were reported in New Taipei City, 45 in Taipei City, 37 in Kaohsiung City, 26 in Keelung City, 17 in Taoyuan City, 12 in Hsinchu County, eight in Hualien County. six in Hsinchu City, four in Yilan County, two each in Taichung City, Changhua County, and Chiayi County, and one each in Miaoli County, Yunlin County, Tainan City, Pingtung County, and Taitung County.

Regarding the 78 new imported cases, 51 are male and 25 are female while the gender of the other two is being investigated. They range in age from under five to 99 years. Of them, 10 each arrived from Vietnam and Indonesia, seven from the Philippines, three from Thailand, two each from Korea and Switzerland, and one each from the UAE, Malaysia, China, the US, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia; the areas the remaining 36 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 9 and April 5, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,175,001 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,149,504. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 25,225 cases. Of the 25,225 confirmed cases, 8,226 are imported; 16,945 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 139 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
