CECC confirms 35,365 more COVID-19 cases, including 35,322 domestic cases and 43 imported cases

On October 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 35,365 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 35,365 new cases, 35,322 are domestic and 43 are imported. The CECC announced 65 deaths today.

Regarding the 35,322 new domestic cases, 16,338 are male and 18,969 are female, while the gender of the other 15 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 6,441 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,655 in Taichung City, 4,089 in Kaohsiung City, 3,541 in Taoyuan City, 3,503 in Taipei City, 2,925 in Tainan City, 1,925 in Changhua County, 1,044 in Pingtung County, 869 in Hsinchu County, 867 in Yunlin County, 839 in Hsinchu City, 786 in Miaoli County, 704 in Nantou County, 654 in Chiayi County, 648 in Yilan County, 504 in Keelung City, 442 in Chiayi City, 397 in Hualien County, 215 in Taitung County, 169 in Kinmen County, 96 in Penghu County, and nine in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 65 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 42 men and 23 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 43 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 22 and October 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 19,043,437 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,590,586. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,450,158 cases. Of the 7,450,158 confirmed cases, 36,051 are imported; 7,414,053 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 12,323 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 12,323 deaths, 12,306 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
