CECC confirms 51 more COVID-19 cases, including 15 domestic cases and 36 imported cases

On January 24, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 51 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 51 cases, 15 are domestic and 36 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new domestic cases, they are ten men and five women, aged between 10 and 59 years.

Regarding the 36 new imported cases, they are 21 men and 15 women, aged between under five and 79 years. 31 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (20 cases), Palau (two cases), Indonesia (two cases), Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Haiti, the Philippines, Dominican Republic, and Belgium; the areas where the remaining five cases arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 9 and January 23, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,463,663 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,444,547. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,376 cases. Of the 18,376 confirmed cases, 3,404 are imported; 14,918 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 119 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
