On April 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 11,517 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 11,517 new cases, 11,353 are domestic and 164 are imported (115 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced two deaths today.

Regarding the 11,353 new domestic cases, 5,394 are male and 5,957 are female while the gender of the other 2 is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 26 and April 27, while 5,953 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 4,552 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,424 in Taipei City, 1,481 in Taoyuan City, 621 in Taichung City, 504 in Keelung City, 340 in Kaohsiung City, 303 in Hualien County, 193 in Tainan City, 171 in Yilan County, 115 in Hsinchu County, 113 in Hsinchu City, 103 in Changhua County, 94 in Pingtung County, 87in Taitung County, 83 in Yunlin County, 63 in Miaoli County, 42 in Nantou County, 26 in Chiayi County, 24 in Chiayi City, six in Lienchiang County, and four each in Penghu County and Kinmen County.

Regarding the two deaths announced today, cases #36928 and 40627 were an over 70-year-old Taiwanese male and over 60-year-old Taiwanese woman, respectively.

Regarding the 164 new imported cases, 80 are male and 83 are female, while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, three arrived from Indonesia and one each from the Netherlands and Vietnam; the areas the remaining 159 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 9 and April 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 8,309,027 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,218,899. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 88,446 cases. Of the 88,446 confirmed cases, 10,783 are imported; 77,609 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 860 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 860 deaths, 845 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
