On January 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 18,414 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 18,414 new cases, 18,024 are domestic and 390 are imported. The CECC announced 48 deaths today.

Regarding the 18,024 new domestic cases, 8,206 are male and 9,807 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,775 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,164 in Kaohsiung City, 2,145 in Taichung City, 1,989 in Taoyuan City, 1,917 in Taipei City, 1,518 in Tainan City, 731 in Changhua County, 576 in Hsinchu County, 486 in Hsinchu City, 426 in Miaoli County, 358 in Yunlin County, 354 in Keelung City, 342 in Pingtung County, 245 in Yilan County, 231 in Chiayi County, 208 in Hualien County, 205 in Nantou County, 139 in Chiayi City, 396 in Taitung County, 72 in Kinmen County, 33 in Penghu County, and 14 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 48 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 25 men and 23 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 390 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 19, 2022, and January 18, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,338,487 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,051,255. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,284,494 cases. Of the 9,284,494 confirmed cases, 46,240 are imported; 9,238,200 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,977 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,977 deaths, 15,957 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
