On October 6, 2009, the 29th meeting held by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) was convened by the Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan, Li-Luan Chu. The chairman of Taiwan Hospital Association, Der-Lang Wu, and the chairman of Taiwan Medical Association, Ming-Been Lee, were invited to attend the meeting to discuss the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccination campaign planned by the government.
At the meeting, CECC, Taiwan Hospital Association and Taiwan Medical Association reached a preliminary consensus on the vaccination fees. The vaccination will be free and with no additional registration or consultation fees. The government will reimburse healthcare providers for administering the vaccine at NT$150 per shot. It is hoped that the campaign will encourage vaccination.
On the other hand, Chan-Yang Wang Social Welfare and Charity Foundation has carried out a three-year plan that donates pneumococcal vaccines for elderly aged 75 and above since 2007. This year, the Foundation provides one hundred and ten thousand pneumococcal vaccines for the elderly.
