On April 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 663 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 663 new cases, 551 are domestic and 112 are imported (30 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the 551 new domestic cases, they are 291 men and 260 women ranging in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between April 4 and April 12, while 242 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 162 were reported in New Taipei City, 115 in Taipei City, 61 in Kaohsiung City, 53 in Taoyuan City, 37 in Keelung City, 31 in Hualien County, 26 in Taichung City, 16 in Hsinchu County, 14 in Pingtung County, nine in Tainan City, eight each in Yilan County and Hsinchu City, four in Chiayi County, three in Miaoli County, two in Yunlin County, and one each in Changhua County and Nantou County.

Regarding the 112 new imported cases, 60 are male and 50 are female while the gender of the other two is being investigated. They range in age from teens to 69 years. Of them, 18 arrived from Indonesia, 16 from Vietnam, five from the Philippines, four from Thailand, two from India, and one each from the UAE, Nigeria, Switzerland, Malaysia, and Hong Kong; the areas the remaining 62 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 29 and April 11, 2022.

Additionally, the imported cases #27408-27410 announced on April 10 has been reclassified as domestic cases according to epidemiological investigations.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,438,164 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,409,246. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 28,666 cases. Of the 28,666 confirmed cases, 9,077 are imported; 19,535 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 182 cases (37 newly added; removed after epidemiological investigations) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 854 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 854 deaths, 840 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
