On February 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 54 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 54 new cases, 10 are domestic and 44 are imported (25 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are six men and four women, aged between under ten and 49 years.

Regarding the 44 new imported cases, they are 26 men and 18 women, aged between under 10 and 69 years. 26 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (five cases), Austria (three cases), the UAE (three cases), the Netherlands (two cases), Germany, Vietnam, France, Cambodia, Israel, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Spain, Singapore, Greek, Malaysia, and India; the areas where the remaining 18 cases arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between November 26, 2021, and February 8, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,856,439 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,836,620. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,293 cases. Of the 19,293 confirmed cases, 4,001 are imported; 15,238 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 130 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
