CECC confirms 39,808 more COVID-19 cases, including 39,763 domestic cases and 45 imported cases

On October 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 39,808 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 39,808 new cases, 39,763 are domestic and 45 are imported. The CECC announced 92 deaths today.

Regarding the 39,763 new domestic cases, 18,003 are male and 21,746 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 7,431 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,196 in Taichung City, 4,687 in Kaohsiung City, 4,062 in Taoyuan City, 3,781 in Taipei City, 3,394 in Tainan City, 2,191 in Changhua County, 1,384 in Pingtung County, 909 in Hsinchu County, 869 in Yunlin County, 869 in Hsinchu City, 828 in Miaoli County, 728 in Nantou County, 686 in Yilan County, 684 in Chiayi County, 552 in Keelung City, 480 in Hualien County, 468 in Chiayi City, 269 in Taitung County, 139 in Kinmen County, 136 in Penghu County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 92 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 52 men and 40 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 45 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 14 and October 18, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,918,412 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,573,676. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,341,966 cases. Of the 7,341,966 confirmed cases, 35,899 are imported; 7,306,013 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 12,128 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 12,128 deaths, 12,111 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
