CECC confirms 71 more COVID-19 cases, including 25 domestic cases and 46 imported cases

On February 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 71 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 71 cases, 25 are domestic and 46 are imported (23 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 14 men and 11 women, aged between under five and 79 years.

Regarding the 46 new imported cases, they are 26 men and 20 women, aged between under ten and 79. 29 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (seven cases), the Philippines (three cases), Australia (three cases), the Netherlands (two cases), India (two cases), Peru (two cases), Vietnam (two cases), Thailand (two cases), Japan, Nigeria, Canada, Israel, Hong Kong, and China; the areas where the remaining 17 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 15 and February 4, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,719,429 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,699,979. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,029 cases. Of the 19,029 confirmed cases, 3,832 are imported; 15,143 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 128 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
