CECC confirms 24,350 more COVID-19 cases, including 24,109 domestic cases and 241 imported cases

On January 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24,350 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 24,350 new cases, 24,109 are domestic and 241 are imported. The CECC announced 15 deaths today.

Regarding the 24,109 new domestic cases, 10,405 are male and 13,693 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,910 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,778 in Taoyuan City, 2,768 in Kaohsiung City, 2,710 in Taichung City, 2,425 in Taipei City, 1,947 in Tainan City, 1,031 in Changhua County, 805 in Hsinchu County, 643 in Miaoli County, 565 in Pingtung County, 521 in Yunlin County, 519 in Hsinchu City, 477 in Keelung City, 437 in Yilan County, 396 in Nantou County, 331 in Chiayi County, 295 in Hualien County, 223 in Chiayi City, 148 in Taitung County, 98 in Kinmen County, 75 in Penghu County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 15 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were nine men and six women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 241 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 27, 2022, and January 26, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,533,252 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,103,106. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,428,486 cases. Of the 9,428,486 confirmed cases, 47,860 are imported; 9,380,572 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,204 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,204 deaths, 16,184 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
