On June 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 53,023 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 53,023 new cases, 52,992 are domestic and 31 are imported. The CECC announced 151 deaths today.

Regarding the 52,992 new domestic cases, 24,867 are male and 28,109 are female, while the gender of the other 16 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 7,703 were reported in New Taipei City, 7,506 in Kaohsiung City, 7,037 in Taichung City, 5,162 in Taoyuan City, 4,426 in Tainan City, 3,765 in Taipei City, 3,726 in Changhua County, 2,213 in Pingtung County, 1,543 in Hsinchu County, 1,377 in Miaoli County, 1,168 in Yunlin County
1,128 in Nantou County, 1,028 in Hsinchu City, 1,021 in Keelung City, 931 in Hualien County, 874 in Yilan County, 837 in Chiayi County, 557 in Chiayi City, 550 in Taitung County, 203 in Kinmen County, 196 in Penghu County, and 41 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 151 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 84 men and 67 women ranging in age from under 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 31 new imported cases, they were 20 men and 11 women ranging in age from under five to 89 years. Of the cases, one each arrived from Turkey, South Africa, and the US; the areas the remaining 28 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 21 and June 5, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,692,165 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,231,093. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,457,881 cases. Of the 2,457,881 confirmed cases, 13,192 are imported; 2,444,635 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 3,090 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 3,090 deaths, 3,075 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
