On February 16, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,747 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,747 new cases, 16,477 are domestic and 270 are imported. The CECC announced 61 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,477 new domestic cases, 7,325 are male and 9,145 are female, while the gender of the other seven cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,117 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,059 in Taoyuan City, 1,987 in Kaohsiung City, 1,910 in Taichung City, 1,440 in Taipei City, 1,421 in Tainan City, 794 in Changhua County, 476 in Hsinchu County, 427 in Pingtung County, 387 in Hsinchu City, 384 in Yunlin County, 366 in Yilan County, 337 in Miaoli County, 303 in Keelung City, 269 in Nantou County, 249 in Chiayi County, 204 in Hualien County, 136 in Chiayi City, 113 in Taitung County, 49 in Kinmen County, 36 in Penghu County, and 13 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 61 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 39 men and 22 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 270 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 16 and February 14, 2023.

The CECC reported a cumulative total of 9,878,848 confirmed cases. Of these confirmed cases, 52,902 are imported; 9,825,892 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 17,319 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 17,319 deaths, 17,298 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
