CECC confirms 49,574 more COVID-19 cases, including 49,509 domestic cases and 65 imported cases

On October 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 49,574 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 49,574 new cases, 49,509 are domestic and 65 are imported. The CECC announced 31 deaths today.

Regarding the 49,509 new domestic cases, 23,352 are male and 26,140 are female, while the gender of the other 17 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 9,495 were reported in New Taipei City, 6,583 in Taichung City, 5,296 in Taipei City, 4,914 in Kaohsiung City, 4,834 in Taoyuan City, 3,745 in Tainan City, 2,708 in Changhua County, 1,333 in Pingtung County, 1,279 in Hsinchu County, 1,278 in Miaoli County, 1,247 in Yunlin County, 1,154 in Yilan County, 991 in Hsinchu City, 945 in Chiayi County, 845 in Nantou County, 731 in Hualien County, 685 in Keelung City, 615 in Chiayi City, 448 in Taitung County, 175 in Penghu County, 172 in Kinmen County, and 36 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 31 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 20 men and 11 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 65 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 11 and October 3, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,069,311 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,435,940. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,630,642 cases. Of the 6,630,642 confirmed cases, 35,084 are imported; 6,595,504 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,232 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,232 deaths, 11,216 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
