CECC confirms 20,920 more COVID-19 cases, including 20,527 domestic cases and 348 imported cases

On February 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 20,920 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 20,920 new cases, 20,572 are domestic and 348 are imported. The CECC announced 45 deaths today.

Regarding the 20,572 new domestic cases, 9,278 are male and 11,287 are female, while the gender of the other seven cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,990 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,566 in Taichung City, 2,495 in Kaohsiung City, 2,259 in Taoyuan City, 1,885 in Taipei City, 1,743 in Tainan City, 968 in Changhua County, 647 in Hsinchu County, 522 in Hsinchu City, 515 in Pingtung County, 456 in Miaoli County, 450 in Yunlin County, 425 in Keelung City, 416 in Yilan County, 311 in Nantou County, 251 in Chiayi County, 251 in Hualien County, 186 in Chiayi City, 118 in Taitung County, 55 in Kinmen County, 50 in Penghu County, and 13 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 45 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 22 men and 23 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 348 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 9 and February 8, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,952,066 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,197,133. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,754,006 cases. Of the 9,754,006 confirmed cases, 51,172 are imported; 9,702,780 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,894 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,894 deaths, 16,873 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
