CECC confirms 37 more COVID-19 cases, including 13 domestic and 24 imported cases

On January 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 37 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 37 new cases, 13 are domestic and the other 24 are imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are five men and eight women, aged between under five and 89 years old.

Regarding the 24 new imported cases, they are 13 men and 11 women, aged between 10 and 59 years old. 19 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (ten cases), Vietnam (three cases), France (two cases), Australia (two cases), Paraguay, and Saudi Arabia; while the countries where the other five arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 5 and January 19, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,363,205 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,344,301. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,041 cases. Of the 18,041 confirmed cases, 3,238 are imported; 14,749 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 116 cases (one newly added; removed after testing negative the second time) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
