On October 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 34,602 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 34,602 new cases, 34,556 are domestic and 46 are imported. The CECC announced 57 deaths today.

Regarding the 34,556 new domestic cases, 15,616 are male and 18,914 are female, while the gender of the other 26 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 6,048 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,868 in Taichung City, 4,207 in Kaohsiung City, 3,450 in Taoyuan City, 3,183 in Tainan City, 3,116 in Taipei City, 1,841 in Changhua County, 1,140 in Pingtung County, 807 in Hsinchu County, 766 in Yunlin County, 752 in Miaoli County, 747 in Hsinchu City, 718 in Nantou County, 605 in Chiayi County, 574 in Yilan County, 484 in Chiayi City, 466 in Keelung City, 345 in Hualien County, 201 in Taitung County, 134 in Kinmen County, 86 in Penghu County, and 18 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 57 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 33 men and 24 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 46 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 27 and October 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 19,249,007 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,620,145. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,626,103 cases. Of the 7,626,103 confirmed cases, 36,270 are imported; 7,589,779 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 12,620 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 12,620 deaths, 12,603 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
