On April 30, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed indigenous cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The three new cases, (Case #1127-1129) are three employees at a quarantine hotel near the airport.
Case #1127 is a Taiwanese female in her 20s who is a staff member working in the food and beverage department of the quarantine hotel. She experienced an itchy throat on the afternoon of April 29. She was then tested, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 30 (the CT value was 26).
Case #1128 is a Taiwanese male in his 20s who is a staff member working in the housekeeping department of the quarantine hotel. As he was found to have a fever on April 29, he was transported to the hospital for testing and placed in an isolation ward. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 30 (the CT value was 16).
Case #1129 is a Taiwanese female in her 60s who is a staff member working in the housekeeping department of the quarantine hotel. She experienced a mild cough and a sore throat on April 26. She was tested yesterday, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 30 (the CT value was 20).
The CECC pointed out that Case #1128, Case #1127, and Case #1120 had visited some public venues before being placed in isolation wards. Please see the attachments for the venues they visited. Members of the public who have visited those locations during the time periods mentioned in the attachments are reminded to practice self-health monitoring for 14 days. If suspected symptoms develop, members of the public must put on a mask and voluntarily inform the physician of any history of contact and activity.
The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 207,488 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 205,371. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1128 cases. Of the 1128 confirmed cases, 993 are imported; 87 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 9 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 12 deaths, and 1053 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 63 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
