CECC confirms 17,729 more COVID-19 cases, including 17,650 domestic cases and 79 imported cases

On December 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17,729 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 17,729 new cases, 17,650 are domestic and 79 are imported. The CECC announced 24 deaths today.

Regarding the 17,650 new domestic cases, 8,034 are male and 9,599 are female, while the gender of the other 17 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,510 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,199 in Taichung City, 2,045 in Taipei City, 1,970 in Taoyuan City, 1,856 in Kaohsiung City, 1,384 in Tainan City, 752 in Changhua County, 646 in Hsinchu County, 603 in Hsinchu City, 407 in Pingtung County, 393 in Miaoli County, 347 in Yunlin County, 264 in Yilan County, 253 in Keelung City, 244 in Nantou County, 244 in Chiayi County, 162 in Chiayi City, 119 in Hualien County, 105 in Taitung County, 88 in Kinmen County, 54 in Penghu County, and five in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 24 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 12 men and 12 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 79 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 26 and December 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,600,800 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,900,463. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,699,400 cases. Of the 8,699,400 confirmed cases, 39,443 are imported; 8,659,903 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,099 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,099 deaths, 15,082 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
