On September 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 33,819 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 33,819 new cases, 33,483 are domestic and 336 are imported. The CECC announced 36 deaths today.

Regarding the 33,483 new domestic cases, 15,162 are male and 18,303 are female, while the gender of the other 18 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 7,153 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,292 in Taipei City, 3,979 in Taichung City, 3,779 in Taoyuan City, 2,595 in Kaohsiung City, 2,034 in Tainan City, 1,429 in Changhua County, 1,041 in Hsinchu County, 935 in Hsinchu City, 875 in Miaoli County, 811 in Pingtung County, 689 in Yunlin County, 676 in Yilan County, 661 in Hualien County, 608 in Keelung City, 481 in Nantou County, 475 in Chiayi County, 357 in Chiayi City, 252 in Taitung County, 190 in Penghu County, 150 in Kinmen County, and 22 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 36 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 25 men and 11 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 336 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between May 24 and September 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 16,297,108 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,912,605. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,375,883 cases. Of the 5,375,883 confirmed cases, 28,394 are imported; 5,347,435 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,986 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,986 deaths, 9,970 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
