CECC confirms 5 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from Indonesia, Paraguay and Albania

On May 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those five new cases, two arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia (Case #1258 and Case #1259); two arrived from Paraguay (Case #1260 and Case #1261), and one traveled from Albania (Case #1262).

Case #1258 is an over 40-year-old man from Indonesia. The Indonesian man traveled to Taiwan for studies on April 27. He was tested on May 12 after completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 14.

Case #1259 is an over 20-year-old fisherman from Indonesia. He traveled to Taiwan for work on April 29. He was tested on May 12 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 114.

Case #1260 and Case #1261 are a Taiwanese man in his 60s and a Paraguayan woman in her 50s, respectively. Both cases tested positive for COVID-19 in Paraguay. They returned to Taiwan on May 12. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on May 14.

Case #1262 is an over 20-year-old female from Albania. She traveled to Taiwan for work on April 18. She visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on May 13. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 14.
