On April 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12,313 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 12,313 new cases, 11,974 are domestic and 339 are imported (260 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced two deaths today.

Regarding the 11,974 new domestic cases, 5,793 are male and 6,178 are female while the gender of the other three is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between February 14 and April 28, while 6,297 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 4,095 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,702 in Taipei City, 1,987 in Taoyuan City, 605 in Keelung City, 586 in Taichung City, 391 in Kaohsiung City, 272 in Hualien County, 227 in Tainan City, 194 in Changhua County, 180 in Yilan County, 162 in Hsinchu County, 118 in Pingtung County, 107 in Hsinchu City, 88 in Yunlin County, 64 in Taitung County, 60 in Nantou County, 55 in Miaoli County, 36 in Chiayi County, 27 in Chiayi City, nine in Penghu County, six in Kinmen County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the two deaths announced today, they were an over 80-year-old male and an over 50-year-old male. Both were severe cases and had neurologic diseases.

Regarding the 339 new imported cases, 173 are male and 165 are female, while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under 10 to 79 years. Of the cases, 48 arrived from Vietnam, ten from the Philippines, seven from Indonesia, five from Thailand, and one each from Canada, Germany, Switzerland, the US, Malaysia, and Laos; the areas the remaining 263 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 18 and April 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 8,374,328 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,268,779. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 100,753 cases. Of the 100,753 confirmed cases, 11,120 are imported; 89,579 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 862 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 862 deaths, 847 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
