CECC confirms 27,444 more COVID-19 cases, including 27,159 domestic cases and 285 imported cases

On January 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 27,444 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 27,444 new cases, 27,159 are domestic and 285 are imported. The CECC announced 20 deaths today.

Regarding the 27,159 new domestic cases, 11,719 are male and 15,423 are female, while the gender of the other 17 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,228 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,416 in Kaohsiung City, 3,275 in Taoyuan City, 3,070 in Taichung City, 2,686 in Taipei City, 2,082 in Tainan City, 1,202 in Changhua County, 839 in Hsinchu County, 698 in Miaoli County, 620 in Pingtung County, 594 in Hsinchu City, 593 in Yunlin County, 535 in Keelung City, 533 in Yilan County, 283 in Nantou County, 406 in Chiayi County, 357 in Hualien County, 226 in Chiayi City, 151 in Taitung County, 130 in Kinmen County, 85 in Penghu County, and six in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 20 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 12 men and eight women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 285 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 28, 2022, and January 27, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,567,752 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,110,254. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,455,924 cases. Of the 9,455,924 confirmed cases, 48,105 are imported; 9,407,765 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,224 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,224 deaths, 16,204 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
