CECC confirms 15,283 more COVID-19 cases, including 15,227 domestic cases and 56 imported cases

On December 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 15,283 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 15,283 new cases, 15,227 are domestic and 56 are imported. The CECC announced 37 deaths today.

Regarding the 15,227 new domestic cases, 6,836 are male and 8,378 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,394 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,109 in Taichung City, 1,975 in Kaohsiung City, 1,725 in Taoyuan City, 1,393 in Taipei City, 1,156 in Tainan City, 819 in Changhua County, 501 in Hsinchu County, 468 in Miaoli County, 452 in Hsinchu City, 435 in Pingtung County, 337 in Yunlin County, 242 in Chiayi County, 235 in Yilan County, 226 in Nantou County, 217 in Hualien County, 180 in Keelung City, 144 in Chiayi City, 108 in Taitung County, 72 in Kinmen County, 36 in Penghu County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 37 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 20 men and 17 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 56 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 7 and December 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,254,396 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,826,007. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,427,473 cases. Of the 8,427,473 confirmed cases, 38,091 are imported; 8,389,328 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,585 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,585 deaths, 14,568 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
