CECC confirms 16,484 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,145 domestic cases and 339 imported cases

On February 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,484 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,484 new cases, 16,145 are domestic and 339 are imported. The CECC announced 64 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,145 new domestic cases, 7,519 are male and 8,598 are female, while the gender of the other 28 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,168 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,962 in Taoyuan City, 1,916 in Kaohsiung City, 1,770 in Taichung City, 1,432 in Taipei City, 1,395 in Tainan City, 712 in Changhua County, 513 in Hsinchu County, 456 in Pingtung County, 403 in Hsinchu City, 379 in Miaoli County, 365 in Yunlin County, 356 in Yilan County, 311 in Keelung City, 235 in Nantou County, 233 in Chiayi County, 207 in Hualien County, 142 in Chiayi City, 119 in Taitung County, 34 in Kinmen County, 34 in Penghu County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 64 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 42 men and 22 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 339 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 22 and February 21.

The CECC data showed that since 2020, there have been a cumulative total of 9,970,937 confirmed cases and a cumulative total of 17,672 COVID-19 deaths in Taiwan.
