On January 13, 2010, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced a new case of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) infection in a pregnant woman.She is the tenth pregnant woman infected with the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus in Taiwan.The case is a 32-year-old pregnant woman who lives in central Taiwan and was 21 weeks into her pregnancy.She experienced influenza-like symptoms on December 31, 2009 and immediately sought medical attention at a hospital.On the following day, when she developed fever, cough and shortness of breath, she was transferred to the intensive care unit for further treatment and was reported as a hospitalized case of H1N1 infection because H1N1 infection was confirmed. On January 4, 2010, intrauterine fetal death was detected.However, due to her conditions, her labor was not induced.At the time of writing, the case is still receiving treatment at the hospital.The case has not been vaccinated against H1N1.

According to the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) epidemic surveillance data compiled by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC), as of 10am on January 13, 2010, a total of 870 hospitalized cases of the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) infection have been reported. Of the cases, 10 are pregnant women, 2 have died and 4 fetal deaths were reported.
