On November 19, 2015, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) for Dengue Outbreak convened the tenth meeting hosted by the Commander, Vice Premier Chang San-cheng of the Executive Yuan. In light of the fact that the dengue outbreak in Tainan City has been successfully brought under control, the forward command post is thus disbanded. Commander Chang instructed the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to help Tainan City restore their tourism industry. Simultaneously, CECC for Dengue Outbreak will focus dengue prevention and control efforts in Kaohsiung City and the fifth phase of vector site cleaning program that would last for three consecutive days began in Kaohsiung on November 19 as an attempt to prevent the ongoing outbreak from escalating.

As dengue activity has declined for 8 consecutive weeks in Tainan City and each major district has been reporting less than 20 new cases since November, the forward command post is therefore disbanded. Nevertheless, CECC for Dengue Outbreak will continue to closely monitor dengue activity in Tainan City. If the number of new cases reported in Tainan City increases again for two consecutive weeks, the forward command post will resume its operations in order to provide necessary assistance to the Tainan City Government accordingly. The local epidemic command center established by the Tainan City Government remains in operations and the Tainan City Government continues to implement its vector control program in order to maintain effective dengue control.

According to the statistics compiled by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) for Dengue Outbreak, a total of additional 458 indigenous dengue cases were confirmed in Taiwan on November 18, 2015, including 429 cases in Kaohsiung City and 17 cases in Tainan City. The number of new cases reported in Kaohsiung City is 166 cases more than that reported during the same day last week, while the number of new cases reported in Tainan City is 24 cases less than that reported during the same day last week. Since this summer, a cumulative total of 35,345 indigenous dengue cases, including 22,461 cases in Tainan City, 12,225 cases in Kaohsiung City, 224 cases in Pingtung City and imported and sporadic cases in other cities and counties, have been confirmed. Thus far, a cumulative total of 158 deaths, including 112 deaths in Tainan City, 44 deaths in Kaohsiung City, and 2 deaths in Pingtung City, were found to be linked with dengue infection. 25 deaths, including 23 from Kaohsiung City and 2 from Tainan City, are still waiting to be reviewed. Currently, 57 dengue patients are being treated in the intensive care unit. 92.7 % of the total reported cases, which is 32,779 patients, have recovered.

Commander Chang pointed out that despite the fact that dengue activity in Tainan City had abated, travelers visiting Tainan City are still urged to take precautions against mosquito bites. In addition, even though the forward command post has been disbanded, the central government still works closely with the local government to monitor dengue activity and will continue to strengthen the exiting dengue prevention and control efforts in Kaohsiung City in order to bring the outbreak under control as soon as possible.
