CECC confirms 96 more COVID-19 cases, including 4 domestic cases and 92 imported cases

On January 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 96 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 96 new cases, four are domestic and 92 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that the domestic cases are two men and two women, aged between 20 and 69 years old.

Regarding the 92 new imported cases, 25 are male and 27 are female while the gender of the other 40 cases is being investigated. They are between under five and 79 years old. 51 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (34 cases), Vietnam (four cases), Australia (four cases), the Philippines (four cases), the UAE (two cases), Germany, France, and the UK; the countries where the remaining 41 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 28, 2021, and January 11, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,164,612 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,145,758. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 17,559 cases. Of the 17,559 confirmed cases, 2,854 are imported; 14,651 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 114 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
